MEN ZONE
There's no denying it's a girl's world in this
design blogosphere. I know most of my readers are female (and anyone who dares
leave a comment is DEFINITELY female...aside from my boyfrnd), and I must admit, I
don't really know much when it comes to men's fashion. But, I think it's time
to learn. Whether you are a dude looking to learn about men's fashion right
along with me, or a girl looking to find the perfect gift for your brother or
bf, hopefully this new feature will leave you feeling inspired! 'Cuz that is
what this whole blogging thing is all about, right?

MENS WEARS ACCESORIES
Accessories can make or break an outfit – Every girl knows that. But what about men? In truth, they have it easy compared to the subtle politics and coordination of a handbag or a brooch.
My advice for mens accessories is to keep it simple, stick to colours you’re familiar with – Which for most men will be blacks, browns, blues and neutrals.
This set of accessories, in slick and shiny shades of black is an easy look can that can adapted for work or play. Perfect for business trips or the city.
Take inspiration from the country with soft brown leather, and simple check accessories. This look is great for travelling and patent leather loafers are particularly hot this season.
CHAMBRAY
We all know that a classic chambray shirt is a staple in every woman's wardrobe,
but what about for dudes? I'd say it's more than a staple, it's a necessity.
Practically every men's line offers some version of the classic oxford, it's
appropriate for any season or occasion, and is as comfortable as your favorite
hoodie. These two dudes know how to rock the look, one for work and one for the
weekend. Just don't pair it with jeans...even the coolest of cool can barely
pull off denim on denim.
I love these colours. They are great for adding vibrant colour to your look, but they can also work wonders as an accent colour so this is a trend that guys everywhere can work into their outfits seamlessly. If you want to keep it casual, go for simple red pieces like the Polo Ralph Lauren shirt or jumper from Topman. For a higher fashion edge, choose rich textured red fabrics, like corduroy, velvet (like this Alexander McQueen blazer) or silk.
DRESS TO IMPRESS
MEN COLLECTION 2012
It's no secret every girl loves a good sale.
But guys? Another story. I know the longer my bf has to rummage through
racks, the more beer will be consumed at the end of the day. So, what's a guy
got to do to scoop up some deals? Head to your local premium outlets, with one
thing on your mind: accessories. They make an outfit instantly look put
together, and if you buy quality, timeless pieces (within your budget), it's a
sure fire way to at least look like you know what you're doing when you get
dressed in the morning. Premium outlets can be a total cluster, but it's a
great way to buy designer duds that would otherwise be totally unattainable.
Plus, with accessories, there are no long lines for the dressing room, and not
much browsing. You're in and out...just in time to grab 1 beer...ok, maybe
2.

MAD MAN SERIES A FASHION INSPIRATION
So every body’s talking Mad Men and I have to admit its part of my inspiration
list as well.
The show’s early 1960s set and costumes are enough to make even
the most forward-thinking men and women swoon. Stopping by the official show’s
website, I discovered a treasure trove of pictures from the seasons’ stunning
costumes alongside commentary by
Mad Men Costume Designer Janie Byrant. So I
had to share: we’ve repurposed these pictures and comments by Janie as she
describes the era, the characters, and the delights of being the Costume
Designer for one of the hottest shows of the 21st century.
It’s been nearly five years since the first season of “Mad Men,” which was exactly when I (along with the rest of the world) got swept up in early 1960s-era fashion: Skinny suits, black ties, Brylcreemed hair for men, pencil skirts and updos for women.
It was a moment: A fresh rediscovery of a good, clean (??) fashion era.
Here we are, five years later, with the premiere of the new season of “Mad Men” just a week or so away. And, well, it’s not just Don Draper’s sex life that’s getting an update this year. Check out the clothes!
As the series moves from the supper clubs to sunken living rooms, the fashion gets brighter, bolder, zanier. What’s next, psychedelic pantsuit prints?
It remains to be seen whether Fashion Avenue in 2012 will continue to follow Madison Avenue in the 1960s for inspiration. I’m doubtful.
What do you think about Mad Men’s new look? Do you like it as much as the old one?
